Ayers, Susie Koehn, well-known, popular and award-winning teacher for the Deaf, born January 2, 1921 in Montezuma, KS to Ruben and Lena Koehn, died at her home in Anderson, IN, August 9, 2008. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula, Olathe, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., and burial following at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Olathe Club of the Deaf, 221 S. Chestnut St., Olathe, KS 66061, or the Kansas Education Foundation Deaf Cultural Center, 455 E. Park St., Olathe, KS 66061. Susie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Harry Koehn, Otis Koehn, May Curtis, Jesse Koehn, Effie Koehn, Lizzie Jantz, and Reuben Koehn; former husband, Willis W. Ayers; and granddaughter, Kathryn Ayers. Susie is survived by her brother John (Lillian) Koehn of Montezuma, KS; sons Robert (Leila) Ayers, Olathe, and Terry (Terry) Ayers, Anderson, IN, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
