Emma Weigel was born November 5, 1894 in Hays, Kansas to Martin and Catherine (Dostart) Gross. She died April 7, 1984 at Mountain View Nursing Home in Madras, Oregon, at the age of 89. She had been a resident of the nursing home since 1979.

She was married to Otto Weigel on September 12, 1921 at Hays, Kansas. Mr. Weigel was a professional musician and teacher, and the family lived in Hays until 1932, when they moved to Claflin, Kans.

In 1938 they moved to Minneapolis, Kans.; then to LaGrande, Oregon in 1943. They made their home in Astoria and Portland, Oregon, from 1963 to 1977. In 1977 Otto and Imma moved to Madras, Oregon to be near their daughter. Emma's life centered around her home, husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick;s Catholic Church.

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated by Msgr. Crotty at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Patrick's Church followed by burial in Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Madras. Madras Evergreen Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
