Irving E. "Swede" Davison, Galesburg Chapel
95, formerly of Henderson, IL died 4:07 AM Monday, August 18, 2008 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.
He was born on October 18, 1912 in Henderson, IL to Irving and Emma Nelson Davison. He married Mary L. Fields October 9, 1932 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death October 29, 2001.
Irving is survived by two sons Rodney (Carol) Davison of San Jose, CA, Gary (Joann) Davison of Wataga, IL, a daughter Linda (Ron) Buban of Alpha, IL, and his special friend Alberta Bohlander. He is also survived by a brother Jean "Pat" (Aloma) Davison of Hutchinson, MN, 5 grandchildren Kim Davison, Michelle Durham, Todd Davison, Brian Davison, Stacey Metcalf, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, six sisters and two grandchildren Susan Davison and Kevin Buban.
He owned and operated service stations on Rte#150 and Henderson Road and in Alpha, IL. Irving also owned Laundromats in Alpha, Woodhull, and Galva; retiring in 1995. He also mowed the Henderson Cemetery for 30 years. Irving was a member of the Moose Lodge #880. He loved ballroom dancing, duck hunting, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He played baseball for several area teams from 1930 to 1950.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rev. David Kramer officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Henderson Cemetery Association.
