D. F. Died suddenly at the residence of his dau., Mrs. James Hill, yesterday morning in his 99 year death coming while he was sitting in a chair conversing with his daughter and while he has not been feeling very well for the past week still it was not imagined that his death was so close at hand, as the only thing he had been suffering from was the infirmities that accompany old age. Mr. F was born in Scotland on May 5, 1805 [conflicts with date on cemetery stone] and accompanied by his wife, he came to this country when about 25 years of age, settling in New York City, where he engaged in the grocery business for several years, after which he moved to Holbrook L. I. where he followed his trade, that of a rigger of ships which he continued until a few years ago, when he removed to Pat (Patchogue) where he resided with his dau Mrs. Lizzie M. Terry ) until a few weeks ago, when he paid a visit to his daughter at Rosedale, where he died.
He leaves surviving him 3 daughters, Lizzie; Mrs. S. Hill of Ocean Side and Mrs. James Hill of Rosedale. The body was taken to Patchogue on the noon train to-day and the funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon the interment being in Patchogue Cemetery alongside his wife, who died about 18 years ago.
