Yesterday noon a woman named Rachael Johnson went to the home of a colored woman named Hattie Anderson, for the purpose of ascertaining the reason why the latter had not called for her breakfast. She boarded with Mrs. Johnson and had missed her usual morning meal. Upon arriving at the house, Mrs. Johnson entered by a rear door, which had been left unlocked, and proceeded to the room occupied by Hattie Anderson. There she found the object of her search lying upon a bed, and a brief inspection convinced her that the woman was dead. She hastened away for assistance, found another woman named Sadie Howard and together the two returned to the house, and inspected the body of the dead woman. Mamie Mosby was also present, and after considering the matter, the women went to Judge Bean and reported the facts. Marshal Carr was subsequently notified, and Coroner Lee was sent for.
