Carrie M. Smith, 61, Rt. 2, Eubank, died Thursday, Sept. 25, at the home of a daughter, Norma Shadwick, in Nicholasville. She had been ill several months.

She was a member of the Pilot Baptist Church.

Born May 30, 1919, in Eubank, she was the daughter of Willie and Lillie (May) Shell and the wife of Andy R. Smith, whom she married Feb. 8, 1936. Her husband survives her.

Other survivors are three sons, William Smith, Tipp City, Ohio; Steve Smith, Versailles; and Wayne Smith, Lexington; four daughters, Kate Maxson and Betty Hamm, both of Tipp City, Ohio; Norma Shadwick and Jackie Perrin, both of Nicholasville; three brothers, Henry Shell, Eubank, Jack and Joe Shell, both of Christiansburg, Ohio; Violet Sowders, Troy, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Dennis L. Smith, and daughter Linda Denington, preceded her in death.

Services were Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
