He was a church deacon at Westminister Presbyterian Church. He is credited with being the first nurseryman in the valley & he provided fruits & vegetables to the setttlers. Abel & his wife, Zilpha had three children & one of his daughters, Loraine married William Almy Richmond.

This monument is made of cast iron & was produced by the American White Bronze Co in Chicago, Illinois. They were produced around the turn of the century as a less expensive form of memorialization. Another advantge was that information could be added to a panel wihtout removing the enitre marker from the cemetery.
