Charles J. Salmela was born in Finland, March 12, 1878, and came to this country with his mother when very young, and settled in Spruce Grove Township, Becker County. He lived in this community all of his life, and passed away at Green Acres Nursing Home in Menahga on November 1, 1972.
He was, at the time of death 94 Years, 7 months, and 19 days of age.
He was married to Inga Siltala on September 10, 1959.
Left to mourn are his wife, Inga, and a number of nieces and nephews, one brother, Ole Salmela, and two sisters, Mrs. Peter Koskela and Mrs. Matt Olson, have preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on November 3rd at the Mennonite Church in Menahga with the Rev. George Wilson officiating. Music was by Edwin Niemela, Organist.
Pallbearers were Olof Salmonson, Einard Pajari, Eddie Ristinen, Edwin Karjala, John Tontti and Eli Makinen.
Interment was at Koskela Cemetery, Spruce Grove Twonship. Arrangements were by Kampsula Funeral Home of Menhaga.
