Another Pioneer Gone To Reward
Mrs. Sarah Ann Jensen Ames died at the Star Valley hospital in Afton, of heart complications following an operation for intestinal obstruction. Her health has been impaired because of this derangement for about a year.
Mrs. Ames was born in Claekston, Utah, September 26, 1878, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Jensen. She came to Star Valley, with her parents, when about 16 years of age and has lived here since.
She married Oliver Ames in Fairview, Wyoming November 2, 1896, Mr Ames preceded her in death about three years ago. She was a Latter-day saint church member.
Funeral services were held in Etna Tuesday December 13 under the direction of Bishop L.W., Fluckiger, Bob Wolfley offered the opening prayer.
Musical numbers were : Male Quartet by Ray Clark and Co.; Violin Duet Orrin Gardner and co.; Vocal Solo, Ernest turner; Duet Walter Brower and Alta Sanderson; song by Hazel Clark and Co.
Tributes to the life and character of Mrs. Ames were paid by Delbert Wolfley, a friend and neighbor; Bp. Osborne Low of Afton, a life long friend and associate, and remarks by Bishop L.W. Fluckiger. They all mentioned the faith that Mrs Ames had and the splendid life she had lived.
Closing prayer was offered by W. R. Burton, Beautiful sprays of flowers banked the casket and rostrum.
Five grandsons and one brother acted as pallbearers. the body was interred in the Fairview cemetery, Bp. W.Fl Joesser dedicating the grave.
The following children survive; Oliver J. Ames and Mrs Olive Ely, Afton; Mrs. Annie Viola Corsi, Etna; Ardell Ames and a stepdaughter, Mrs Clarabell Hill, Etna. Also 5 brothers and one sister, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Among the number outside the valley who attended the funeral were; Mr and Mrs. Reuben Jensen of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Will Jensen of Fish Haven, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jensen of Cokeville, Merlin Jensen of Shelley, Idaho, Mr and Mrs. Ames of Pocatello, Idaho, Mr and Mrs. Loveland of Fish Heaven.
