DODGE CITY — Philomena M. Bittel, 73, died Dec. 16, 1983, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. Born Philomena M. Hammerschmidt, April 15, 1910, at Victoria, she married George P. Bittel, Sept. 15, 1928 at Hays.
She was an employee of Eckles Department Store. Dodge City, for 20 years, and had been a Dodge City resident since 1943. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, all of Dodge City.
Survivors: widower, of the home; daughter, Darlene Hutchinson, Texas City, Texas; brothers, Jerry Hammerschmidt, Walker; Ben Hammerschmidt, Hays; sister, Amelia Stang, Hays; six grandchildren.
Parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Hulpieu-Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the cathedral; Monsignor George Husmann. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Brocks North Hill Chapel, Hays. Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hays.
