Regina Arndt passed away Jan. 15, 2007, at St. Clare Hospice House. She was born in Portage on Feb. 12, 1924, to William and Ann (Vesely) Amend. She attended St. Mary's School and Portage High School and was a graduate of Groves-Barnhart School, Madison. She was united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Portage, to Harold "Rube" Arndt on Oct. 10, 1945. She was employed for many years in the bookkeeping department at Neco Corp., having the best "bosses" anyone could possibly have! She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its CCW. She was also a member of Elks Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered, along with her late husband, for many years at Circus World Museum. She looked forward each July to a reunion with her fellow classmates of St. Mary's Class of 1937. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with friends. In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, card playing, dancing and sewing. Later, she thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren's sports and social events and was very comfortable sitting at the bridge table with her friends and relatives. Regina is survived by her daughter and husband; and her son and his wife; her two grandsons; her granddaughter; her siblings, four sisters and three brothers-in-law; two brothers and their wives; four sisters-in-law; and also, many nieces; nephews; and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband on Sept. 1, 2005; her brothers, Ken, B.J., and Norbert "Butch" Amend; her sister, Ann Tice; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mildred and Martin Arndt; and brothers-in-law, Fred Arndt and Glen Funk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2007, at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Jan. 18, 2007, from 4-7 p.m. at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Avenue in Baraboo; and at the church on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. A prayer service will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to St. Joseph's Church Expansion Fund or a charity of your choice.
