She was the daughter of Michal/Michael (born about 1805) and Elizabeth Welch (born about 1810) Geiss.

Eliza immigrated to the United States in 1854 with her parents.

Eliza married Jacob Young (1841-1909) on October 9, 1867 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co, Ohio.

Children of Jacob and Eliza (13): William Michael Young (1868-1963); John Frederick Young (1869-1962); Elizabeth Christina 'Lizzie' Michelfelder (1871-1963); Anna Mary Dehne (1872-1939); Bertha Julia 'Bert' Fouts (1974-1956); Christian Francis 'Christy' 'Frank' Young (1876-1945); Catherine Louisa 'Kate' Drinkut (1878-1938); Lolo (nmn) Eckel (1880-1963); Caroline Ida 'Carrie' Meany (1881-1904); Susan Leona 'Leo' Akard (1884-1932); Florence Magdeline 'Maggie' Maloney (1885-1964); Emma Helena Young (1888-1896) and Georgia Henrietta Akard (1890-1974).

Jacob Young, Eliza and family moved from Lancaster, Ohio to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1893. They were removed from St Peter's Lutheran Church rolls in Lancaster in January of 1893. The family joined St Mark's Lutheran Church in Indianapolis by letter of transfer dated April 2, 1893.

On the 1900 census Eliza is listed as blind.

She died at age 68 years 7 months 24 days.
