"On 14 Sep 1781 a party of abt 30 men, of Col John Floyd, came to bury the dead from the Long Run Massacre of 13 Sep 1781. Over half were killed or captured by attacking Indians, including Gerardus Ryker, who, along with 5-8 settlers was buried in the nearby sinkhole."
