Lloyd C. Burkhart, son of O.B. and Mary A. Burkhart was born Oct. 28, 1895 at the farm home, two and one-half miles northeast of Garrison, Missouri, and departed this life in a hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on Thursday, Oct. 31, 1940 at the age of 45 years and three days. He was married to Nellie Case in 1920. To this union were born three sons and one daughter, the daughter dying in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Nellie, and the three sons, Paul, Denton and Everett, also five sisters, Dena Nelson, Ether Ives and Clarea Coen all of St. John, Kansas. Flossie Burkhart of Ozark, MO, and one brother, Sterl Burkhart of Lisbon, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends who deeply mourn his departure. He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father and brother. He was converted in January, 1911 under Elder J.T. Pruitt’s preaching whom he ever since has dearly loved and who conducted his funeral service. He untied with the Missionary Baptist church of Garrison at the time of his conversion and retained that faith until death. He was called to serve his country at the beginning of the World War and received his honorable discharge. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 4, at 11:00 am in the Garrison church by Rev. Pruitt and Roy Shipman with burial in the Garrison cemetery under direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark.
