Alvin Meyer, 89, of Holland, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, of injuries sustained in a fall.

He was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Holland, son of Deddo and Ella Franken Meyer. On July 30, 1940, he married Helen Thorn.

Mr. Meyer was self employed as a gravel and lime trucker. He was a member of Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Dean (Jan) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Deb (Steve) Ahrenholz of Minneapolis; three sisters, Teena Mohlis of Nampa, Idaho, and Lorraine Heronimus and Lavine Weichers, both of Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Vincent Lee; five brothers; and six sisters.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, rural Grundy Center, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials: may be directed to the family and will be donated to the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox Program.
