Mrs. Clyde Carlisle Smith

Services for Mrs. Clyde Carlisle Smith, 88, of Carrollton, who died Saturday, December 14, 1991, at the Indianola Hospital, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, at National Funeral Home in Grenada with the Rev. J.C. Hubbard officiating.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Panola County, was the daughter of the late Rev. R.G.A. and Jessie Cloud Starnes Carlisle. Her father was a member of the North Mississippi Methodist Conference. He was the pastor of the Vaiden Methodist Church in 1924-25 and her great-grandfather was pastor at Vaiden 1855-1856 and again in 1859. She was a member of the Grenada Chapter of the D.A.R., the H.D. Money Chapter 2 of the U.D.C., and the Carroll County Garden Club. She was a member of the Drew Methodist Church.

Mrs. Smith was a retired school teacher having taught in the Calvary School and Valley School in Carroll County.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Lee Smith of Carrollton; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Wilson of Indianola; a granddaughter, Mrs. Teresa Lowe and two great-grandsons, Byron, Jr. and David Lowe of Brandon.

Pallbearers were Walton Hammond, Jack McDonald, Arnie Watson, Pate Shackleford, George John Shackleford and Bobby Carlisle.

National Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
