Wadie Buckhorn

Funeral services for Wadie Buckhorn have been scheduled for 1:00 PM, Friday, September 19, 2008 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Rev. Bill Pylate will officiate. Burial will follow at Long Spring Cemetery in Tahlequah under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Wadie Buckhorn was born October 3, 1939 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma the son of Johnnie and Annie (Dick) Buckhorn. Wadie died Monday, September 15, 2008 in Durham, North Carolina. He was 68 years of age.

Wadie was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Carolyn McClure on March 20, 1967 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They lived in Coweta for the past 34 years. Wadie worked as a mechanic, for Muskogee Redi Mix concrete, and was retired from the teamsters union. He enjoyed working on cars, playing his fiddle and bass guitar and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion # 226 and the Oddfellows.

Wadie was preceded in death by son Danny Leon Buckhorn in 1978, daughter, Cherry Frances LaSarge in 1979 and brothers, Jimmy Buckhorn and D. J. Smith.

Wadie had been the bass guitar and fiddler player for over 10 years for the "Leon Stacy and the Country Express Band".
