Costello, Alan Roberts

ALAN ROBERTS COSTELLO Age 59, resident of Banning/Beaumont, CA for 32 years, formerly of Pass Area - San Bernardino, CA and Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA, passed away March 21, 2008 at Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs, CA. Alan was born September 18,1948 in Hollywood, CA, to Del Mar Narciso Rafeal Costello who was a Flight Mechanic in the war and his Natural Mother is Dorothy Palm of Hollywood CA. His Father married a 3rd time to Alan's step Mother, Ethel (Brown) Costello, when he was young. Alan has a half brother named James Dewey Costello from his father's first marriage to Frances but never got to know or meet him. Alan was a child actor and had the starring role in Lucy goes to Mexico and he played Chewy in a leave it to Beaver episode and he had the starring role as the little boy who rode the dinosaur in the movie " Dinosaurus " and he was in Rio Bravo as well as several other movies and tv shows. He was a Truck Driver, retiring in 1996. He was also a member of the C.B club React for some years and ran the concession stand in a little trailer that we use to go from rest area to rest area and serve coffee and cookies to late night travelers and truck drivers along the highways. He was one of the best Guitarists I have ever heard, and im not just saying that cuz he was my dad, he was very talented with the guitar. We wud sit many nights all thru the night at Denny's or Carrows restaurants and Yum,Yum,Donuts where people would gather at night to drink coffee and listen to him play the guitar. He was known for picking up hitchhikers and people with disabilities and helping them in whatever way we cud. He wasn't a millionaire or anything like that but to a weary traveler or someone hurting in some way, a friendly face and gesture with a spot to sleep for a night with a hot meal is a small comfort. He was also an avid 49'er, for those of you who do not know what that is, it is a gold miner. He collected and studied up on all ghost stories of gold mines and often we went on camping trips to the Superstition Mountains in search of long lost gold, but mostly just had fun of course. 3 of Dad's greatest loves were his Guitars and his motorcycles and his old yellow truck. My sister has custody of his guitar and my brother has custody of his truck. He was cremated and so a part of him is with me and the rest of him is scattered peacefully in one of his most treasured places. He was a high school graduate and member of Banning Four Square Church. Alan is survived by his wife, Antoinette Marie Costello, Banning, CA; and his Natural Mother, Dorothy Palm of Hollywood, CA, and daughters, Carleen Drake, Pendleton, Oregon, Jacoulynne Costello, Banning, CA, Brandy Peat, Woodland Hills, CA; and sons,Joshua Costello, Justin Costello, Jeremy Costello and James Costello, all of Beaumont, CA; and brothers, Dennis Land, Hollywood, CA and James Dewey Costello of Tennessee and Roy BrinkerHoff of Banning CA, and cousin, Marvin Dale, of San Bernardino, CA, and brother in spirit Patrick Fahey, West Hills, CA; and sisters in spirit, Sue Smith, Banning, CA, Kathleen Fahey, Woodland Hills, CA; and 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
