Mary Ellen Boozman passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was 90 years old. Mary Ellen was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Charles Francis Smith and Ellen Scroggins Smith on July 10, 1929. She was a graduate of Natchitoches High School and attended Northwestern State College. She married Curtis Earl Boozman, Jr. in 1946, and they spent their life together and raised their family in Natchitoches. Mary Ellen worked for many years at the Louisiana Department of Revenue in Natchitoches followed by a long tenure as Office Manager of the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles, Natchitoches branch. After retiring, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and traveling. She was very proud to be a Life Master Bridge player.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Boozman, Jr., her parents, one brother, and five sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Patsy) Boozman Arceneaux and her husband William (Bill) of Baton Rouge; two sons, John Boozman and his wife, Emma, and Rodney Boozman, all of Birmingham; a grandson, Scott Arceneaux and his wife, Jennifer, of Jacksonville, Florida; a granddaughter, Erica Boozman Chandler and her husband, Josh, of Birmingham; three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Mary Arceneaux, Laken Chandler, and Palmer Chandler; and one great-grandson, Alexander Curtis Arceneaux.

Visitation will be Monday, December 30, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the American Cemetery in Natchitoches. Pallbearers will be William Arceneaux, Scott Arceneaux, Sonny Melder, Tommy Melder, Richard Guidroz, and Edwin Dunahoe.
