Reuben and his family moved to Genesee MI in 1838 and when he became Sheriff he moved to Flint, and continued that position on and off from 1840-1850, He and his brother in law Simon KING platted Genneseville 1858 (Genesee Village, then Genesee in 1892), now Huckleberry Railroad/ Crossroads Village, Sections 10 and 11 of Genesee TWP on the N. side of the Flint River. The village post office was established in 1859 (Martin W. LAKE). Geneseeville in 1916 had one church, the Methodist Episcopal, and a few stores. An old grist-mill, which was originally built by Reuben McCREERY, in 1849, and transferred eventually to Isaac O. Rogers in 1875, operated by members of the Rogers family. The population of Geneseeville is about one hundred in 1916.

The fourth saw-mill was built in Genesee Twp. on the Flint River, near the west line of section 11, at Geneseeville. It was built by Lot Clark and Stephen Warren, who purchased the site of the government, and also procured a charter granting them the privilege of damming the river for the purpose of furnishing a mill-power. The property was by them transferred to Reuben McCREERY, Oct. 6, 1847. McCREERY sold one-half of his interest to his brother in law Simon King, April 24,1848, and in 1849 they built the first grist-mill in town. They ran the grist-mill four years, and then sold to William E. Alexander, Dec. 29, 1869. Alexander sold to the present owner, Isaac 0.ROGERS, July 1,1872. From 1872 to 1874, George W. LISSETT owned a half-interest in the property. These have been the owners of the grist-mill. A second saw-mill was built by McCreery & King, in 1853, and this was subsequently owned by William Throop, who sold to William HOVEY, who was the owner when, in 1878, it was dismantled and torn down. In Genesee TWP. The second bridge was located at, or a little west of, the corners of sections 10, 11, 14, and 15, and was built under the supervision of Reuben McCreery. It was rebuilt in 1875, and was the only bridge across Flint River in this town in 1879. Seems the ROGER brothers took over some of the property.
