Mrs. Mollie Elizabeth Baker, 98, died February 7, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Baker was born Tradesville Community, Lancaster County, S.C. the daughter of John Dillard McManus and Frances Anne (Fannie) Doster McManus. She was a homemaker and member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Jackson Baker Sr. Her first husband was William Vernon Forbis.

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 10, 1998 at 4 P.M. at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. D.W. Carpenter officiating. Pallbearers were: Ronald Forbis, Marion Baker, Thomas Junior Baker, Julious Burr, Ricky Baker, and Donnie Murdock. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors: sons Curtis Forbis of Brewer, Maine, Howard Forbis of Monroe, N.C., Bobby Forbis of Norwalk, Connecticutt, Edward Baker of Wadesboro, N.C.; daughter Cleo Lavallee of Gray, Maine; She was preceded in death by one son J.L. Forbis; stepchildren: Thomas Baker of Peachland, Richard Baker of Matthews, W.J. Baker of Wadesboro, Anna Murdock of Lilesville, Irene Knotts of Wadesboro, Willie Margie Carpenter of Wadesboro; brother Haskell McManus of Monroe, sisters Delia Helms of Hartsville, S.C., Gertrude Williams of Monroe.
