John W. Hicks of Foot of Ten, Duncansville, died in his home at 9:45 a.m. yesterday after an extended illness. He was born in Duncansville Sept. 2, 1881, a son of John and Lenora (Kuhn) Hicks and married Linnie Chamberlain, who died in May 1959.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Martha Yeckley and Francis of Foot of Ten, Percy of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Helen Stepp of Hampton,VA, Mrs. Wilma Shaw of Newry Lane and Mrs. Dorothy Johnston of Dry Run; two step-children, Mrs. Mary Boyles of Jefferson, MD, and Mrs. Emma Yeckley of Dry Run; 37 grandchildren and 14 great-greandchildren.

He was a member of the Foot of Ten Independent Bible Church and a retired farmer.

Friends are being received at the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville.

HICKS - Services for John W. Hicks of Foot of Ten, Duncansville, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Foot of Ten Independent Bible Chruch by the Rev. Myron Weiand. Interment in Carson Valley Cemetery. Friends are being recieved at the Liebegott Funeral Home Duncansville, until noon Tuesday and thereafter at the church.
