Achie "Grandma" Bloodworth, 78, of Venture Trail died on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at her residence. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cool Water Chapel, 2294 Highway 49 North, at Commissioner's Creek in Jones County.

Mrs. Bloodworth was born on January 23, 1928, to the late Willard Homer Avery and Mattie Kitchens Avery. She attended Haddock Primary School and graduated from Gray High School in 1945. As a member of the girls basketball team, Mrs. Bloodworth was awarded gold basketball charms for two district championships. She also attended Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Bloodworth moved to Hardwick in 1947 and was employed at Dr. Allen's Invalid Home, where she met and married Randolph "R.W." Bloodworth. She began a career at Milledgeville State Hospital in 1950 and retired in 1975 as a medical records clerk. Mrs. Bloodworth was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Randolph Bloodworth of Hardwick; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Mike Satterwhite and Judy and Richard Carlisle; grandchildren, Tara and John Walker, Adam Cowart, Haley Carlisle, Melanie Satterwhite and David Satterwhite; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Carter and Emily Walker, all of Milledgeville; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mildred Avery of Jones County; and several nieces and nephews.
