FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENTS ON AN INCREASE

Death Saturday Night Brings Total for 1934 To Three

Jacob DeBoo, 71, an employee of the Watrous farm on South Broad street was fatally injured about 10 o`clock Saturday night when, while walking along the highway, he was struck by an automobile operated by Louis Agli, 25, of 13 Hayes street. The accident occurred on South Broad street just south of Sacred Heart cemetery.

Agli, held in bonds of $500 as a result of the fatality, had his case continued in Police court today until August 6 on request of attorney Francis R. Danaher. In the meantime it is expected that the coroner`s office will conduct an inquest.

Mr. Agli, and his wife who accompanied him, informed the police that they had no knowledge of the accident until they felt an impact. Investigation which they made showed that Mr. DeBoo had been fatally injured after being struck and carried about 80 feet by the automobile. Both Mr. and Mrs. Agli insist that their automobile was on the right side of the road when the accident occurred.

The death of Mr. DeBoo made the third automobile fatality in Meriden for this year.

The body was removed to the John J. Smith funeral home at 219 West Main street from where funeral services were held at 2 o`clock this afternoon with Rev. Francis S. Lippitt of All Saints` church officiating and burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery.

Mr. DeBoo was born in Sussex, Canada, and had lived in Meriden for about a year. He worked for 38 years as express messenger on the Canadian Pacific railway.

He leaves his wife, and four daughters, Mrs. Marion Konstantine, Mrs. Robert C. Kelly, Miss Elizabeth DeBoo and Mrs. J.P. Foley, all of New York City, and a son, Lloyd DeBoo, of this city.
