Eugene Taylor, widely known resident of Marcus Hook, was found dead in his cabin near the old Bush Line Wharf, Delaware avenue shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday (6 Dec 1941). Death apparently resulted from natural causes.
Taylor, who was about 62, was found by his son, Charles, who lived with him. Patrolman Andrew Foltz was summoned and sent the victim to Chester Hospital in the Marcus Hook Fire Company ambulance. He was pronounced dead on arrival and the body was turned over to the Deputy Coroner Margaret Ward at Linwood.
"Gene", as he was known throughout the borough, was originally a carpenter but was proficient in numerous trades, including those of pipefitter and iron worker. He was born in Marcus Hook and spent his entire life there.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Nellie Taylor. Besides Charles he is survived by two other sons, Eugene, Jr., and Herman. Also surviving are three brothers, James, Charles and Clarence Taylor, and six sisters, Mrs. Lucy Long, Mrs. Mary Martow, Mrs. Ida Johnson, Mrs. Nellie B. Kulp, Mrs Frank Roberts and Mrs. Maude Achenbach. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
