John Robinson Jr. was a Private First Class in the Army during World War II. John resided in Polk County, Florida before enlisting on February 23, 1943. At the time of enlistment, John was 21 years old, had 4 years of high school education and was single, with dependents. One year later, John was captured by the Nazis while serving in Germany, and was sent to Stalag 4B near Muhlberg, Germany where 8,412 other American POWs were held. John's capture was first reported to the International Committee of the Red Cross on December 16, 1944, and the last report was made on March 1, 1945. Based on these two reports, John was imprisoned for at least 75 days (~3 months), one of the shorter durations of captivity recorded, the average being 363 days. Ultimately, John died as a prisoner of war.
