Obituary. Mercy Crouch was born May 1st, 1802, at Brinfield, Massachsetts, and died at Mr. P. Bryant's, her son-in-law, on Banner, Jackson county, Kansas, October 7th, 1887, aged eighty-five years, five months and six days. She was married at the age of twenty-five to Mr. Orsamus Kenfield, and with him united with the Baptist church at Belchertown, Massachusetts in 1827, Mr. Kenfield lived but little more than a year after their marriage. In 1830 she was married to Henry S. Bacon, with whom she lived happily for eighteen years, when she again was left a widow. She was the mother of nine children, five of whom survive her, and with them she has made her home for many years .......... Her body rests in the Holton cemetery.
