Sarah was fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her grandson Harold remembered Grandma making lunch for him every day he attended Hickory College one room school next door. Granddaughter Elizabeth said Grandma Freeman (Sarah) was very sharp. She knew "what all that went on." Grandma canned, Elizabeth found a jar of pickled beets in her home that her grandma had done. She saved a 1938 newspaper clipping about Sarah's 94th birthday. The article described that Sarah had a "host of relatives and friends" and "considering her years, she is in excellent health."
