Died.

Benj. H. Rogers, on Sunday morning at 1 a.m., of heart disease, contracted while in service in the last war. He was born in New Hampshire, enlisted on the 17th day of Sept. 1861 with the New Hampshire volunteers, and was discharged from the Belvere hospital Aug. 29, 1862, after serious sickness, from which he never fully recovered. He moved to Kansas in 1869, and has resided in and near Independence for sixteen years. His last sickness lasted nearly one and one-half years, during which time his wife faithfully ministered to his every want. The funeral took place from the residence on North 9th street at 4 p.m. of the same day of his death, owing to the rapid decay of the body. Mr. Rogers was conscious to the last and died in the blessed hope of happiness in the life to come.

A Card.

I desire to extend my heartfelt thanks to my friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted me in my late affliction.

Mrs. Mattie Rogers.
