BEARDSTOWN, Ill. -- Thomas C. Cline Sr., 79, of Beardstown, formerly of Burton, died at 2:02 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26, 2008) in his home. He was born March 20, 1929, in LaGrange, Mo., a son of the late Edgar and Anna Sisson Cline. He married Shirley Wear on Oct. 3, 1953, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed the family farm in Taylor, Mo., until 1973, when he went to work on the dock for Knapheide Manufacturing in Quincy, from which he retired. He was a member of the Burton Memorial Presbyterian Church and later the First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, Quincy American Legion and Machinist Lodge No. 822. He enjoyed woodworking and making yard ornaments. Also surviving are two children, Carol Mohr of Beardstown and Thomas (Penny) Cline Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; six grandchildren Mike (Dawn) Mohr of Tallahassee, Fla., Chris (Erin) Mohr of Quincy, Laura Mohr and friend Tom Moore of Quincy and Jessie, Allie and Geoff Cline, all of Fredericksburg; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Gracie Mohr of Quincy and Ellie Mohr of Tallahassee; two sisters, Ann Harvey and Mae Arnold, both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar and Daniel Cline. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with the Rev. Robert Schoolcraft conducting. Burial with military rites will be in Curless Cemetery near Loraine. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
