Funeral services for Lillie Bell Hammond, 94, of Wainwright, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 at Middleton Chapel Cemetery in Oktaha with minister Anton Rinck officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
Lillie Bell Hammond was born February 25, 1914 in Stigler, OK the daughter of Sherman B. Hale and Janie Bell (Smith) Hale and died October 2, 2008 in Checotah, OK. On July 15, 1930 she married LeRoy Hammond in Stigler, OK. They were married for 67 years when he preceded her in death on April 26, 1998. They had ten children and four preceded her in death with six remaining. She was a homemaker who worked very hard for her family. Her hands were never idle. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two sons, Rube Hammond of Safford, AZ, Manuel Hammond of Safford, AZ; four daughters, Cleta Fox and Bonnie Davis of Gresham, Oregon, Margaret Summers of Wainwright, OK, Pauline Gable of Arroyo Grande, California; three brothers, Ernest Hale of Oktaha, , Emery Hale of Pima, AZ, Chester Hale of Rentiesville, OK; she leaves behind over 200 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, six generations. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
