SPRINGVILLE--Funeral services for Thorn Chase Miner, 70, who died Wednesday night in a Salt Lake Hospital following a major operation, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Springville First-Twelfth Chapel with Bishop Ruel Crandall officiating.
Friends may call this evening and Saturday morning prior to the services at the Wheeler and Son Mortuary. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Miner was born in Springville, January 1, 1887, a son of Moroni and Nancy Chase Miner. He received his education in the Springville schools and at the Brigham Young Academy. He married Selina Kershaw January 3, 1912 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Active in LDS Church activities, he has served as a teacher in the various organizations, served a mission in the Eastern States and during the time he and his family lived in Philadelphia, Pennsyvania, he served as part-time missionary throughout their stay there, from 1927 to 1945. At the time of his death he was a member of the High Priests Quorum.
He has been employed for the past number of years at the Utah County Recorder's office in Provo.
Survivors include his wife of Springville; two sons and four daughters, Jefferson K. Miner, Herbert K. Miner and Mrs. John T. (Mary) Marshall, all of Springville; Mrs. Reed (Evelyn) Ekins, Payson; Mrs. B. C. (Gladys) Deputy, Salisbury, Maryland and Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Herb, New York City; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, M. F. Miner, Provo; Austin C. Miner, Provo; George C. Miner, Maga; Paul C. Miner, Bakersfield, California and Mrs. Ruth Bennion, Salt Lake City.
