Truman was the son of Abel and Sarah (Tomlinson) Waters. Truman Waters was listed among the freemen of Milton, Vermont on May 13, 1789. Truman Waters was descended from English ancestry, and with his wife and small family came into the Talbot Settlement about the year 1814. For many years he kept a small hotel on what is now the House farm, nearly a mile west of Watson's Corners. Truman Waters settled on Lots No. 5 and 6, in the year 1814. He was a very intelligent man, and kept a diary from the time he landed in Canada till his death in 1852. He also kept a record of the settlement, and all the events of interest which occurred, but unfortunately the book was taken away a few years ago and no trace of it can be found. Truman married a second time to a Sarah Long, but so far we have been unable to find a record of their marriage or where Sarah went after his death has been found.
