Death of An Old Resident
Mrs. Abigail Anderson Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon.
Mrs. Abigail Anderson, one of the pioneer residents of Drum Creek, passed away yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at her home just east of the Old Catholic cemetery, east of this city. She was 83 years old and had lived in Drum Creek since 1870. Her husband died about four years ago. She is survived by four children, three sons, and one daughter. One of the sons, Andrew, still made his home with his mother and was the only child at home at the time of her death. Ellsworth lives somewhere in New Mexico and Ben resides at Chanute, while the only daughter resides in Oklahoma.
Mrs. Anderson was well and favorably known to the old settlers of the county. She endured all the trials and hardships of frontier life with Christian fortitude and was a woman greatly beloved by her neighbors.
The funeral will take place from her late residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock and the services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Wharton of the First Methodist church of this city. Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
