Frederick Yeats was born in Hampton, Lovett Parish, Worcestershire, England. He was the son of Mary Oliver Chance (1816-1894) and George Yeates (1814-1892). He joined the LDS Church at the age of 14 and came to America in 1856. He drove a yoke of oxen across the plains, arriving in the Salt Lake Valley in 1857.

He married Sarah Webb (1840-1914) on November 9, 1862 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Frederick and Sarah came to Millville in 1865, and in 1871 they built a small home across the river. Frederick worked on the Church farm and made several trips to bring immigrants to Utah.

On April 13, 1874, he married Sarah Maria Spackman (1859-1941) in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Sometime after their marriage, Frederick and his father, George, opened a small store in Millville. He located his second family in part of the store; and he and his wife, Sarah Maria, operated the store in connection with the Post Office. Frederick spent his last years in Logan with Sarah Maria and was a devoted temple worker.

Sarah Webb and her children continued to manage the farm.
