Nancy Watson Sams, 93, of Jasper, died Thursday, Oct. 9 (2008) at Washington Regional in Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Shiloh United Baptist Church with Robert Huber, Bill Matlock and James Compton officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Christeson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Shiloh with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include granddaughters.

The daughter of Flemon and Annie Self Watson was born Feb. 1, 1915, at Shiloh. She was a member of Shiloh United Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Beecher Sams; two infant sons and two infant daughters; a daughter, Effie Sams Evans; four sisters; and four brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Chester Sams of Jasper and Vester Sams of Rogers; six daughters, Geneva Laughter of Hindsville, Dessie Taylor of Jasper, Orvis Laughter of Huntsville, Helen Kolander of Jasper, Patsy Holder of Springdale and Donna Nikkel of Jasper; three sisters, Leta Watson Rylee of Jasper, Ida Watson Willis of Springdale and May Watson Neal of Lowell; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
