He was the son of Jess Harper Staley and Jessie Ann Brake Staley. He was employed for thirteen years by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and as a special deputy for the Hocking County Sheriff Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elsie L McCoy Staley; daughter Dixie Loraine Staley; grandson Charlie Staley; and granddaughter Mandy Konkler. He was my Grandmother Betty Jane Staley Armentrouts Brother
He was one of the 17 surviving children , All together there were 23 children
