Emily Daigle "Cookie" Allain
After two courageous battles with cancer, she went home to be with Jesus, St. Anthony and "Cuz" at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at her daughter's home in Baton Rouge. Born on Aug. 9, 1924, in Plaquemine. "Cookie," as she was best known, had a very successful hair salon in Baton Rouge in the 1940s and 1950s. She married Millard "Cuz" Allain Sr., of Brusly, in January 1943 in Georgia. Together, with other family members, they built the "Casa Loma" Club in Port Allen. She was a devout Catholic, member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and until recently, never missed Mass on Sundays or Holy Days. She loved dancing, bingo, LSU, Notre Dame and Saints football. She was a very patient, caring and loving lady who cried when John Lennon died. She was the best cook this side of Plaquemine. We will forever miss your gumbo, jambalaya and po-boys, Momma. No one could have ever asked for a better mother, grandmother or friend. She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie A. Harrison and her husband, Ronnie, of Baton Rouge, Millaine Allain, of Zachary, and Allaina Allain and her companion, Kenneth, of Baker; son, Millard Allain Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Greenwell Springs; three grandchildren, Ashley Allain and Ben and Adam Hebert; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Haley, Brianna, Alec and Aiden; a sister, Joanne LeBlanc and her husband, Earl T., of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Abel Daigle, of Plaquemine, and Nolan Daigle and his wife, Margaret "Deeda," of Baton Rouge; good friend, "TugBoat"; a sister-in-law, Corrine C. Daigle, of Brusly; and many nieces and nephews - she loved each and every one of you. Preceded in death by her husband, Millard "Cuz" Allain Sr.; parents, Jules and Nola Aucoin Daigle; three sisters, Theresa Businelle, Jean "Lee Lee" Rivet Allain and Mary Lee Culotta; and three brothers, Phillip, Edward and Bruce Daigle.
