Mr. Kraut had never married, living his entire life on the old home place. For several years his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. L. Mathews, lived with him until their death. Emil Oettle had remained in the home for the past several years to care for Mr. Kraut. Mr. Kraut had been a farmer all of his life.
Has was born Aug. 27, 1871 at Batchtown. He is survived by three brothers, John and William of Hardin, Herman of Gilead and a sister Mrs. O. M. Kress of St. Louis, besides several nieces and nephews. The News extends sympathy to the relatives.
