"Garrett Kroeschell, highly respected young man of Gilead precinct, died at his home Jan. 22, 1919, after a short illness. He was born near the old home farm where he died, March 25, 1876 and at the time of his death was 42 years, 9 months and 28 days of age.
Garrett was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kroeschel, the mother was called home a few years ago. The aged father and one brother, John Kroeschel, two sisters, Mrs. W. C. Eilerman and Mrs. John Kraut, besides other relatives and a host of friends mourn his death.
His remains were laid to rest Friday, Jan. 24, 1919, in the family lot in the DeLong cemetery near Gilead in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends after funeral services by Rev. Blomenkamp, the Lutheran minister of Batchtown."
