Bert Boyer Dead
Bert Boyer, 85, a long time resident of this area, died Monday afternoon in Kansas City where he served about two years ago. He was a retired coal miner and worked in the fields here for many years.
Mr. Boyer was born in (unreadable), N.Y., and came to this area when a young man. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Boyer, died in 1822 in (unreadable).
Mr. Boyer belonged to the Methodist church in Cherokee.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. (unreadable) Mercia of Detroit; seven sons, Emery Boyer, Hollister, (unreadable); Walter Boyer, John Boyer and Fred Boyer, all of Kansas City; and Clarence Boyer and Delbert Boyer, both of Detroit, and fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. yesterday at the (unreadable)-Quinn chapel in Pittsburg with Rev. Harvey Houchin officiating. Interment was in the Cherokee cemetery.
