Christena Huckaby
(November 13, 1927 - March 19, 2010)

Christena (Bridges) Huckaby went to be with her heavenly Father Friday, March 19, 2010, in her home while surrounded by her family. She was born November 13, 1927, in Hickory County to Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth (Meadors) Bridges. She was saved as a girl and was a longtime member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Southside Missionary Baptist Church after moving to Bolivar. She was united in marriage to Dudley Huckaby October 20, 1946, and to this union three children were born. She was active at the Bolivar Senior Center. Her parents; a son in-law Paul Charlton; three brothers: Eldon Bridges, Elza Bridges, and Truman Bridges; two sister in-laws: Josephine Bridges and Marnel Bridges; two brothers in-law: James Scott and Dale Griffitt; and her mother and father in-law Bertie and Jean Huckaby precede her in death. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Dudley of the home; her children: Beverly and husband Van McCoy of Springfield, MO, Marilyn Charlton of Urbana, MO, and Johnnie and wife Linda Huckaby of Marshfield, MO; six grandchildren: Tammy, Matthew, Jason, Kelly, Travis, and Terri; two step grandchildren: Randy and Kayla; nine great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and three step great great grandchildren; one great great grandchild on the way; two sisters: Aleina Waggoner and husband Merl of Independence, MO, and Goldena Griffitt of Marshall, MO; sister in-laws Genevieve Bridges of Bolivar, MO, Lila Bridges of Marshall, MO, and Geraldine Scott Dampf and husband Warren of Columbia, MO; as well as a multitude of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010, in Pitts Chapel with Bro. Floy Parrick officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Escorts will be Matt McCoy, Jason Charlton, Travis McCoy, Roger Smith, Robert Earls, and Kevin Waggoner. Honorary escorts will be Leon Meadows, Leon Bridges, Deral Vincent, Lance Lovelace, and Logan Smith. Music will be provided by the Hopewell and Southside Missionary Baptist Church Choirs accompanied by Janice Barham. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Friends and family may sign a guest book or send private condolences at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. In lieu of plants and flowers memorial contributions may be made to the CMH Hospice c/o of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
