Debbia was the 4th of 10 children born to Elijah & Susan (Headley) Tolle.

She married Johnathan Franklin Sumner, son of Peter & Delilah Jane (Masterson) Sumner, on 30 June 1881, in Clay Center, Clay County, Nebraska.

Debbia and Johnathan had 8 children - the first being born in Nebraska, the 2nd in Colorado, and the others being born in Oklahoma.

Johnathan died in 1916, and sometime between 1920 and 1930, Debbia moved from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Genesee, Michigan, where she was living in the household of her daughter, Katherine, and her husband, Chester Wells.

She died on July 16, 1936, in Genesee County, Michigan, and was returned to Oklahoma for burial.


Her obituary in the Flint Journal states:

SUMNER -- Debbie A. Sumner, 318 Crosby St., age 70, died Friday, July 17, 1936, at the residence. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 1936 from Reigle Funeral Home, Rev. E. H. Longman officiating. Burial in Edmond, Oklahoma. Surviving are: Two sons, Delmer and Vern of Flint, four daughters, Mrs. John Salisbury of Oklahoma, Mrs. Chester Wells, and Mrs. William Patterson of Flint, Mrs. Joe Harrison of Saginaw, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The obit states she died July 17th, but the records maintained in Genesse County state she died on July 16th.
