Thomas McCormick was the beloved husband of May Fitzsimmons and the father of Emery, Beatrice, Charles and Edward McCormick.

While walking home from a job with his 13 year old son Emery over the Ste. Anne de Bellevue train bridge that spans 'The Lake of Two Mountains' they were struck from behind by a train.
Thomas pushed his son out of harms way,he himself was hit violently and thrown into the water far below. This is where the Ottawa River meets the St. Lawrence. As far as the family records are known his body was never found.

I have to adjust the dates as I had always believed from my husband that his father was about 13 when this tragedy happened. His 82 year old sister corrected us today, she said that Emery was only 8 or 9 when it happened and he had fallen into the river as well, but closer to shore. It was a miracle he survived.

The McCormick family would like to thank Edda Meinikat for her very kind gesture in sponsoring Thomas' memorial. We feel blessed by the extremely kind people we have found here.
