Francis Elwood Sievers, 74, veteran Piatt and DeWitt County farmer, died Tuesday, March 22, 1948 at his country home east of Farmer City. Funeral services will be Friday at the Stensel Funeral Home, Farmer City, with Rev. Fred Harrold of the Christian Church officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Sievers died of complications resulting from a broken hip received in a fall last December.

He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on April 28, 1873, youngest son of Frederick and Elizabeth Sievers. He came to Illinois at 15 and was married May 2, 1894 to Ellen Dubson of DeLand. They spent all their married life in Piatt County until two years ago when they built a new home in DeWitt County east of Farmer City.

Surviving are his wife and four children: Lloyd E. of Mackinaw; William L. of Farmer City; Mrs. Robert Tharp, Farmer City; and Gail D. of Mackinaw. He also leaves nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Pierce of Faubush KY. His parents, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Sievers was a member of Farmer City Masonic Lodge No. 710.
