---Russell Ray Boyd, 76, of Elmer, died at 3:20 Saturday afternoon (August 31, 1986) at his home.
---Born October 3, 1909 southwest of Gifford, he was the son of Robert S. and Mary Hoffman Boyd. On February 27, 1951, at Kirksville, he married Alma Smith who preceded him in death on November 23, 1971. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, George Boyd, Richard Boyd and Carl Boyd and two sisters, Edna Wacker and Abagail Sweezer.
---Surviving are three brothers, Melville Boyd and Ernest Boyd, both of Elmer and Robert Boyd of Gleenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Elizabeth) Epperson of Elmer and Agnes Sweezer of Ft. Madison, Iowa; one step-son, Kenneth Smith of Ottumwa, Iowa; two step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
---Mr. Boyd spent most of his life in Macon County where he was engaged in farming. He resided northeast of LaPlata before moving to Elmer.
---Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon (September 3, 1986) in the Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta. The Rev. David Starkey, pastor of the Elmer Assembly of God Church, will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Robin McCullar, singing, "Tears Are Language" and "Understanding Isn't Necessary." Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery northwest of Elmer.
