---Melville L. Boyd, 79, of Elmer died Monday, October 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. He was born October 3, 1909 at Gifford. He was a son of Robert S. and Mary Hoffman Boyd.
---Mr. Boyd is survived by two brothers, Ernest Boyd of Elmer and Robert Boyd of Gleenwood; two sisters, Agnes Sweezer of Fort Madison, Iowa and Mrs. Herbert (Elizabeth) Epperson of Elmer, several nieces and nephews.
---All of his life was spent in Macon County with the exception of nine years when he resided in Adair County. He had resided in rural Elmer since 1953.
---He was a member of the La Plata Lighthouse Assembly of God Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
---Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 5 at 1:30 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta. Rev. Allen Perkins, pastor of Elmer Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery northwest of Elmer.
---Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home this evening (October 4, 1989)
---Casket bearers will be his nephews.
