"A letter from Goldsboro, GA informs us of the death of Uncle Jesse Bryant, at the home of his son (Joel B. Bryant) in the upper part of Pulaski Co. on the 7th day of this month. Uncle Jesse was no doubt the oldest man in this county. He was born in NC 16 Dec 1793 and his death on the 7th of Jan. 1887 shows that he was in the 94th year of his age. Mr. Bryant moved from NC to GA in 1832. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 60 years and was regarded by all who knew him as a Christian...Mr. Bryant raised a famly of 12 children and never called a doctor until his children were all grown. Of six sons, only one is living and four daughters."
