Mrs. Donald C. Byrd
Esther Tipton, widow of the late Donald C. Byrd, died on Monday, Feb. 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marshall Barnett, in West Grove. She was 84.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Mitchell County, NC and moved to Chester county in 1921. She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mira Tipton. Mrs. Boyd had devoted much of her time to making quilts of unique design. She was a member of the Toughkenamon United Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by six children, Jeter C., of Oxford, Theodore R., of Toughkenamon, Taft H., of West Chester; Mary, widow of Dr. Otto Muench, of Rochester NY; Dorothy, wife of Marshall Barnett, West Grove and Josephine, wife of Fred Veser, of West Chester. There were 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following sisters, Mrs. Spencer Barnett, of Johnson City, Tenn; Mrs. U. L. Byrd, Relief, NC; Mrs. Abbie Gouge, West Grove and a brother, Thomas Tipton, of Jonesboro, Tenn.
