They were born in North Carolina and emigrated to Illinois soon after marriage, almost 60 years ago; they moved into Zanesville Twp over 29 years ago. She has been confined to her bed nearly all the time , for the past 8 year; was the mother of 10 children, six of whom are still living; in faith, a Presbyterian and never in all her suffering gave up the fate of her childhood. Aaron Leyerley was a soldier in the Black Hawk war and together they knew all the trials of a pioneer life.

Father and Mother you are gone
From out this weary life
And may you rest in peace beyond
This world of sin and strife
