Mrs. Mary Leyerly died at the residence of her daughter, Mart A. E. Potts, near Raymond at half past 12 o'clock on the night of July 9th. She was the wife of Aaron Leyerley, deceased; aged about 85 years and 27 days; her husband died nearly 4 years ago. They were born in North Carolina and emigrated to Illinois soon after marriage, almost 60 years ago; they moved into Zanesville Twp over 29 years ago. She has been confined to her bed nearly all the time , for the past 8 year; was the mother of 10 children, six of whom are still living; in faith, a Presbyterian and never in all her suffering gave up the fate of her childhood. Aaron Leyerley was a soldier in the Black Hawk war and together they knew all the trials of a pioneer life.
Father and Mother you are gone
From out this weary life
And may you rest in peace beyond
This world of sin and strife
